It is said that Lee Ching-Yuen lived … 256 years. Did this man really exist?
It’s all about Holistic medicine. We tend to treat our body as being separate from our spirit and mind and that’s the worst thing we could do. Whenever we are in pain, we don’t think first of the causes but we struggle to ease the pain. As long as we do that, the pain will appear again and of couse – the problem is not solved, as the cause of the problem is still here.
Li Ching-Yuen realy lived on Earth
but we are not quite sure if he lived 256 years or 197. Anyway, it’s much more than Jeanne Calment, that lived only 122 years or Shirali Muslimov, that is said to have lived only 168 years.

His favorite plants were:
- Goji
- Reishi Mushroom (Lingzhi)
- Ginseng
- He Shou Wu
- Gotu Kola
Li Ching-Yuen is a martial art legend, I think that’s why he lived that much. I really don’t beleive that it’s his real age, 256 years is quite something, but it should be close.

256 year-old Herbalist, Li Ching-Yuen
It’s true. In 1827, the Chinese Government congratulated Li Ching-Yuen on his 150th anniversary and in 1877 on his 200th.
But maybe not the real age is important, but his way of living and understanding life. These are just a few:
- he was a herbalist – he picked herbs that help live a longer, healthier life from the mountains
- he ate only herbs and fruits for amlost 40 years
- he teached martial arts; he started that when he was 71 🙂
- he had 23 wives and more than 200 children – this man really enjoyed life. I wonder how he could provide food (grabbing herbs maybe) for all his children
- “Keep a quiet heart, sit like a tortoise, walk sprightly like a pigeon and sleep like a dog.” – that was his secret to longevity
