- Superstitious - No one ever passed salt directly to him, it had to be laid on the table. Also there could be no hat on top of the bed.
- Sense of humor - Ward Bond was his prank buddy. They made a bet at one point that they could stand on opposite sides of a newspaper and Wayne would not be able to punch him. He put a sheet of a newspaper in a doorway and suddenly closed the door, saying "Try and hit me now!". And the Duke did just that, through the door and sending Bond to the floor, winning the bet.
