Will Quora be bigger & better than Wikipedia some day?

I don’t think Quora will have a higher traffic than Wikipedia very soon. Maybe in 10 years or so.

They are both great sources of information, but Wikipedia focuses more on facts and verifiable data, while Quora is more about opinions mixed with knowledge. It’s very interesting to have a question in your head, make it public and find what others think of that, too. You might as well be very surprised.

I read somewhere that Wikipedia is about the PAST – stuff that happened, while Quora is about FUTURE. People from Quora create the trend by asking questions and making you think. The secret to knowledge is CURIOSITY. A question makes you curious, you cannot deny that. It makes you wonder, it makes you think, it makes you want to change things that are not OK. While Wikipedia is PASSIVE, Quora is ACTIVE and ENGAGING, it’s more open and easier to use and moderate. Users have more power. Questions like these cannot make you blind or deaf:

  • Is our political and social system OK?
  • Can we change the world?
  • Are electric cars a new trend?
  • Do robots change our lives?
  • Can we stop forest cutting?
  • Is it OK to spend 8 hours in front of a computer?
  • How did people become so selfish?

Quora generates reactions and is very interest-based. It makes communities and many points of views are exchanged. People can change a lot by using Quora and connecting to others people’s opinions.
