How would you rate/review Robbie Williams ‘s new album “The Heavy Entertainment Show”?

“I love my life” is bliss – it’s the most emotional message to one’s children I’ve ever heard:

We don’t have yet the new album, as it will be released on November 4th, but we have a sampler.

Here are my ratings, on a scale from 1 to 10, in fact from 5 to 9:

1. The Heavy Entertainment Show – I would give a “7”. I liked more the song with the same name from 2015, but it was not successful at all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88k_2qN2qfk

Robbie thinks of starting his shows with this one instead of “Let Me Entertain You”. Ermm, I don’t know what to say. A change would be good, as his shows need some new stuff, but that won’t be the one, in my humble opinion.

2. Party Like a Russian – this Sergei Prokofiev / Robbie Williams / Guy Chambers “collaboration”

is the first song released from the album. Entered 68th in UK charts and went out the next week. Too bad. It’s not a top song, but I liked a lot these playful and metaphorical lyrics here: “I put a bank inside a car inside a plane inside a bot / It takes half the western world just to keep the ship afloat”.  A “7” too for this one. I was hoping this song would not be the “best” on the album. Maybe it was released first as it could get some mass-media talking about it, and it did a little.

3. Mixed Signals – I thinks this is one of the albums hopes, as Robbie did talk a lot in interviews about his collaborations with Brandon Flowers from The Killers. Indeed, it sounds interesting. For now, an “8,5”. Can’t wait to hear the whole track soon.

4. Love My Life – positive, anti-depression song , sounds good, it’s a “7.5”

5. Motherfucker – a song for his son, Charlie. A “7” from me, motherfuckerrrrrr

6. Bruce Lee – a song in collaboration with Stuart Price – “7.5”

7. Sensitive – I really don’t like this one – “5”

6. David’s Song – I don’t know who’s David, I don’t like this one either – “5”

7. Pretty Woman – this one is good and entertaining, like it – “8.5”. Ed Sheeran appears on the credits. He rules!

8. Hotel Crazy – Rufus Wainwright song. You can see from the distance – “7”

9. Sensational – it’s really sensational. I love this song! “9”. It’s great for concerts!

10. When You Know “6”

11. Time on Earth“6.5”

12. I Don’t Want to Hurt You – sounds interesting – “7.5”

12. Best Intentions“6”

13. Marry Me – I won’t 🙂 “6”

As a conclusion, Robbie Williams, at 42, is not what he used to be in his 20s and 30s, unfortunately. He’s not as cool a dad as he thinks he is.

He still fills stadiums, but for how long? It’s hard for artists to artificially create what they don’t feel anymore. And for Robbie this can be seen easily. He does not have that enthousiasm he used to.

He lost a lot of weight, OK, good for him, we appreciate, but as he said, he’s sugarless, carbless and funless. He’s an entertainer first and a musician second, he says, but his music should be great also!

Too bad, es egotic as we know him, if the next songs to be launched from the album will be as unsuccessful as “Party Like A Russian”, this might be his last album.
