No, Adam Lambert did not win American Idol in 2009, but he was a finalist, together with Kris Allen, that won in the end.

They both have great voices, but it was for Kris to win the show. After that, it was for Adam to find great success, now touring with Queen, as lead vocal.

Also Adam Lambert’s albums sold much better. Trespassing went straight to no 1 in Billboard. And that is the first time this happend for a not quite straight person like Adam.

Eventually, the public voted Lambert, so the first position in American Idol does not guarantee the success after.
