The Fat Kid Inside
Who is Erwan Heussaff? / Facts
"Selfie" - Erwan Heussaff calls himself on his facebook page an "ex-fat kid" passionate about cooking and traveling.
Main ingredients - Balance and passion. That's about it. Oh and pure dedication, tireless hours of hard work, homemade food.
What got him started - Sedentary lifestyle, overly indulging in bad food, eating out too often, microwave dishes, disinterest in what goes into the body. This got him to 109 kilos (240lbs).
Wake up call - He realized things were getting out of hand so he started to focus on health making him shed 41 kilos, down to 68. This ultimately led to his health-focused Youtube channel where he still has a series called The Fat Kid Inside.
Diversity is the name of the game - He also loves music, sports, fitness, travel guides, nutrition, love and life in general. That's not "fat" at all
Still has his moments - Of recklessness, as the fat kid still lurks inside.
In the genes - He sure works for his good looks, but it runs into the family blood. His sister is the actress-model Solenn Heussaff.
Increased popularity - Due to his association with actress Anne Curtis.
Doesn't like labels - Doesn't like to be called a foodie, just a man that tries everything. He says he never said no to anything. He must have been the perfect child.
TV star - Part of the "Hot Guys Who Cook" show on Diva Universal.
All in all it's all in the simple stuff - He says he could eat potatoes for the rest of his life. In any way, boiled, fried. He adds noodles, pancakes and waffles to his survival list. He also adds "I think simple dishes are sexy". You now know the way to his heart. Don't forget to bring some potatoes along.
Builds up on the momentum - With the hoards of followers on pretty much all the most important social media channels, he doesn't let the opportunity pass by him so he got into the food business himself, being a co-owner of Niner Ichi Nana, Hungry Hound, Hatch22 and Pink Panda. He is also the face of Singapore Tourism Board's Phillipine campaign.
Cooked his first dish when he was 8 - And all that from memory. It was a dish called salpicao.
Multi-lingual - Speaks English, French, Spanish, Russian and of course his native language.
His life motto - "Make the easiest things seem the most difficult, and the most difficult things seem the easiest."
From overweight to triathlon - Long road, but certainly learned a lot on the way. He now trains 12 hours a week in preparation for triathlon challenges.
French blood - His French father passed on some of his genes for sure, judging by the appreciation he has on food.
International - Born in Philippines, he went to France at 17 for his college studies. Then took an internship in China, moved to Vietnam to work at Sofitel, worked for 6 months on the Rhodes Island, Greece, went to a 5 months training in Thailand then to Siberia, Russia to work for 2 years.

"I gained weight because of a sedentary lifestyle and overly indulging in foods i knew were bad for me, eating out too often, taking the easy route(microwavable dishes) and not caring what went in my body."
"Of course i indulge from time to time, as the fat kid still lurks inside of me"
"I lost weight through pure dedication, tireless hours of hard work and yes, food. i cooked my way to fitness, making sure to only feed myself tasty well prepared dishes with all the right stuff, the perfect fuel."
"I’m not a chef. For me, a chef is someone that can really take the lead in the kitchen. Everyone who goes to cooking school, they don’t come out as a chef. I never went to culinary school, by the way."
"And I don’t like the term foodie… I’m someone that tries everything. I’ve never said no to anything at all."
"I’ve eaten goat testicles. It’s actually not bad if you don’t think about what it is. I’ve mistakenly eaten dog without knowing it. I try all the fun things that are tied into a country’s culture."
"Once I realized that cooking was knowing about the taste and remembering the feeling, I realized it wasn’t that hard. If you love to eat then you should love to cook."
"You look at yourself without your shirt on and you start getting timid and shy, you’re embarrassed, you hit rock bottom and it hits your self-esteem. That’s when I decided I needed to make a change."
